HOLA! And here we go again, launching our Summer Season 2017 by the Thames at the iconic Cutty Sark gardens with a weekend filled with delicious diversity of the Latin American street food, with traders representing around 12 countries with typical and fusion exclusive menus.

Our bars will offer refreshing cocktails, Latin American beers, coconut drinks and more!

Come spend the whole afternoon with us, with local and Latin American artists showcasing music, dance shows and workshops, kids attractions and that very inclusive and friendly vibe!

And there is MORE! On Saturday we celebrate Frida Kahlo’s 110th anniversary and on Sunday the Argentinean independence.

Dj Carlitos (Latinos in London / Arriba la Cumbia)

carlitosOriginally from Colombia, Carlitos is an architect and key person in the Latin American cultural scene in London. Carlitos runs Latinos in London Magazine a multi-promotion online platform, organises key Latin events in London such as Arriba La Cumbia, from private to olympic gigs, he runs a radio show and DJ. He will play a wide range of musical styles fused with global & Latin american rhythms – A musical bridge between past and present of latin american music from traditional roots and fusion to classical hits and emerging global artists around the world.

Dance Show with dance group Kimuju

Kimuju is a Latin American dance group based in London, that will be performing a typical choreography from Ecuador called “Vientos”. Their work combines traditional dance with contemporary ballet, our objective is to make known the dances of their nations Ecuador and Bolivia from the own feeling of the group KIMUJU.

MariachiMariachi means FIESTA, and these guys rocked Comida Fest in 2016 so they are back with a repertoire from the classic Mexican songs to the Latin world hits that we all will sing together!

Dj Russ Jones (Arriba la Cumbia/ SOAS Radio)

russjonesDJ Russ Jones aka Hackney Globetrotter is a DJ and party organiser for many years in london and having played around the globe from Sao Salvador to Beijing through all major capitals and best festivals like Glastonbury, Womad, Big Chill to name a few. In London he runs the blasting Arriba la Cumbia and currently hosting his radio show at Soas Radio and have been guest mixes, interviews and shows on BBC Radio 1, 6Music (The 6Mix), The World Service and the Asian network.

Pé de Jurema - Live Band

Pe-de-JuremaThe award winning Pe-de-Jurema is a folk Brazilian band that plays energetic rootsy music with a vast repertoire of call’ n’response songs and rhythms from the Northeast of Brazil. The audience is encouraged to sing and dance in a joyful celebration of rhythms like Coco-de-Roda, Baião, Maracatu and Ciranda.

Pe-de-Jurema has won the International Press Award in 2011 for representing and promoting Brazilian Culture abroad and has performed in the Wilton’s Music Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, the Somerset House and others.

Dj Marsali Grant (FFtang! FFtang!)

Fftang!, has been playing Latin American music in London since 2010, including nights such as Baila Con Dios, Karnival Tropikal and the Love Carnival currently rocking Peckham’s Bussey Building. Expect Cumbia mash-up and old school latin and global rhythms refreshed with a contemporary urban twist.

La Pajara Pinta

PajaraLa Pajara Pinta, Spanish Sing Along is a 45 minutes session for children and their families.  The Session’s emphasis is on traditional games, songs, rhymes, poems, and stories, from Latin American countries.  Using a story telling format, the session aims to provide a combination of activities having music as an anchor. This year, our major theme is environmental awareness and the importance of protecting our fragile planet, its fauna and its people. Through the Latin American rhythms the session brings out the cultural and natural diversity of a continent critical to the environmental well being of our vulnerable planet today and in the years ahead.

DJ Moishe - Resident DJ

MoisheDj Moishe ( AKA Moises Matzenbacher) is a Brazilian DJ and Musician with influences range from Acid Jazz, Latin Beats, Soul, Jazz Funk and Electronic Music. He is resident in a few clubs in London playing Latin, dance music and uplifting beats. Our resident Dj for the Sunday is local to Greenwich and he is going to play between the attractions throughout the day with a final set before the last band. See you on the dance floor!

Corina Piatti - Live

corinaCorina Piatti is a singer, songwriter and guitarist, originally from Argentina, whose songs have a strong folk blues sound with a South American flavour. Corina sings in Spanish, Portuguese and English, reflecting the different cultures from which she has taken her musical inspirations. Brazilian bossa-nova and samba, and particularly music by Jobim, are some of her specialties, and when she sings tangos in her native Spanish, you cannot help but admire the authenticity. Corina’s own songs and guitar accompaniment are refreshingly unique in character. Her lyrics, often surrealistic, are delivered with a soulful vocal style that communicates feelings of both calm and excitement at the same time.

Dance Show with duo Tango y Nada Mas

We share the Tango culture of Buenos Aires with an emphasis on the music, the embrace, the walk and social dancing. Our aim is to inspire people with this beautiful improvised dance and to build a community of like-minded dancers here in London.

Bahareque - Latin American Rhythms Band

BAHAREQUE BLOOMSBURY FESTIVAL 11th JULY 2014 COMPLETE BAND PHOTOThe “Bahareque” Latin American Rhythms Band plays traditional Latin music ranging from Paraguayan polkas, Andean huaynos, Venezuelan joropos, Chilean cuecas, cumbias from Colombia, Mexican ballads and internationally famous numbers such as Cuba’s “Guantanamera”. Four different nationalities are represented in the Band: Carolina (Colombia): Lead vocalist & guitar; Vicky (Bolivia): pan-pipes, quena, maracas & vocals; Rodrian (Venezuela): Cuatro & vocals; Wilmer (Venezuela): percussion & vocals; Colin (UK): Venezuelan & Paraguayan harps.
The Band’s tours abroad have included Spain, France, Italy and Bulgaria (to a TV audience of almost 8 million).
