Welcome to our first ever Comida Fest at Riverside Walkway in South Bank! After one year working hard to make this happen, here we are bringing together the delicious diversity of the Latin American culinary, represented by our much loved traders, each of them have mouth watering exclusive menus. The bars will be offering the most delicious cocktails, we have a spirit launch and we celebrate the World Malbec Day on the Sunday 17th. Find out more about our Traders.

Making sure the fun is complete, Comida Fest has put together a cultural programme filled with family activities, masterclasses, games, dance workshops and the greatest Latin beats.

Storyteller Sonia Hinda-Leah Caller will be sharing folktales from the heritage of Latin America. Come listen to The Song of Armadillo and much much more to delight and enchant young and adult audiences alike.  She will strum your heart strings, tell tales that tickle to make you laugh and share the wonder that heroes can be found in hidden places inside us all.  PURE MAGIC!

Comida Fest hosts a salsa workshop in partnership with Mundo Latino UK presenting Carlos & Clare Paz.

The workshop will be for all levels, a fun experience and followed by a salsa Dj set by Carlitos Niño (Latinos in London)

Established in 1992 by Carlos Paz, Mundo Latino is a team of professional, dynamic teachers specialising in numerous styles including Salsa, Bachata, Cha Cha, Merengue, Reggaeton, Samba, Boogaloo, Lambada Kizomba and Zumba.

What is Salsa?

The word Salsa is a hot blend of herbs and spices, in musical terms it is a fusion of Cuban rhythms, with in those rhythms you find Cha Cha, Son Montuno, Guaracha and Rumba. Salsa was born in Cuba and commercialised in American in the late 50’s early 60’s when they the spice – Jazz into the blend.

Tequila Masterclass – 15 mins at Cafe Pacífico Agave Bar

Join us for a Tequila session in our May event with Carlos Londoño (Agave Ambassador) from Cafe Pacifico. This was the  first Mexican Bar and Restaurant in the UK, established in 1982 by Mr Tomas Estes Tequila European Ambassador named by the Regulatory Tequila Council and Chamber of the Tequila Industry in Mexico. You would have the opportunity to sample some of the most premium Tequilas available in the UK. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Originally from Colombia, Carlitos is an architect and key person in the Latin American cultural scene in London. Carlitos runs Latinos in London Magazine a multi-promotion online platform, organises key Latin events in London, from private to olympic gigs, he runs a radio show and DJ. He will play a wide range of musical styles fused with global & Latin american rhythms – A musical bridge between past and present of latin american music from traditional roots and fusion to classical hits and emerging global artists around the world.

17.00h – 17.40h – Band  Son Melao

Led by Johnny Freyre from Yumbo, Colombia alongside top Latin musicians based in London, ‘Son Melao’ is a fusion of highly infectious traditional and tropical rhythms of Latin America! Playing a mix of Folk-Tropical style and vintage Cumbia and Pachanga, they revive memories from the golden era of Salsa in the early 70’s.Bring your hat and tropical shirt and enjoy the best of Colombian music as Colombians do: singing it, dancing it and living it!

17.40h – 18.15h – Dj Carlitos Niño (Latinos in London)

With a name that unites ‘Crazy’ and ‘Andes’, the  band plays alternative music, taking the melodies and energy of Andean music and bringing it up to date; creating a fusion of traditional roots and Afro-Andean rhythms with other contemporary genres such as Reggae, Cumbia, Ska, Jazz, Son, Rumba Folk and funky Latin rhythms. Lokandes are fronted by whirldwind musical maestro Kanti Qena and it has musicians and instruments from Peru, Bolivia, Spain, France, China, Chile and the UK.

Charismatic Buenos Aires-born vocalist and guitarist Guillermo Rozenthuler has become one of the leading voices of Argentine Tango and South American song in the UK.
Since his arrival in the UK in 2000 he’s been performing as a solo artist and with bands across Great Britain in a variety of Latin ensembles.
